As a child counseling and play therapy specialist, it will be my honor to help maximize the potential and minimize the difficulties of your elementary-age child. I believe that when a child is struggling, it is due in part to the misusing or under-using of their natural talents or strengths. Therefore, I will assess your child's strengths as much as their struggles in order to build upon their natural abilities. This balanced approach can increase a child's confidence for when they are working on the "tough things" that brought them to counseling. Through the power of play, your child learns many of the same skills used by adults but they do so in a way that makes sense to them and is significantly less intimidating.
I also specialize in adult anxiety treatment. My passion is to help people build their personalized anxiety-reduction plan which may include how to talk about your anxiety with those around you, and also how to replace anxiety producing habits with practical skills which you may easily apply. I use a variety of evidence-based approaches and I will work with you to ensure that the counseling interventions in your session are the ones which are the best fit for your personality, temperament, circumstances, and needs.
I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling, a Post-Master of Science in Counseling: Childhood Disorders Certification, and I offer play-based interventions for neurodivergent children. I am a nationally credentialed therapist.
I have earned a Doctorate of Ministry in Formative Christian Counseling. If you desire and at your request, I am quite comfortable incorporating faith-based activities and prayer into your professional counseling session and alongside evidenced-based best practices.
