Self-expression isn’t just a pastime for “creative types.” It’s a need we all have and a skill that can be improved upon. Sometimes, though, our sense of self gets lost and we find that it’s hard to express feelings or needs we don’t understand. My passion involves coming alongside those searching for answers and desiring a more joyful self.

Before I went back to school to become a counselor, I was an art teacher, working with children, teens and adults. I learned that art often provides individuals with a means of communication that goes beyond words. This prompted me to ask questions such as, “Why aren’t there words?” and “Why can’t we just talk ourselves into feeling better when we’re down, or come up with solutions on our own?” Sometimes our resources are overwhelmed by anxiety or depression. Sometimes we’re stuck in old patterns and can’t see other options. Sometimes trauma or heartache overshadows everything else. Whatever the reason, there is hope!  

Seeing a counselor can be intimidating. Be assured that I am safe and trustworthy. I am a Christian. I’m married with three grown sons, two daughters-in-law and two granddaughters. I am trained in the use of evidenced-based techniques, ranging from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to Art Therapy. I believe that each individual is unique, and I look forward to working collaboratively with you on your path to authenticity and wholeness.
