If you are reading this, I would venture to guess that you are searching for a counselor. While many avoid counseling because they think going is a sign of weakness, I think it is exactly the opposite. Admitting we need help and seeking change in our lives is the sure sign or strength and courage...so great work! The search for a counselor you can trust and confide in, for some, is a big first step toward relational healing and wholeness.
I believe that life is full of many challenges that wound us, stretch us, and grow us. When we are experiencing anxiety, heartache, stress, and grief, a compassionate and skilled counselor can ease the overwhelming sense of bearing those burdens alone. I hope that the gentleness of my counseling approach reflects and points to God’s grace in my work with clients.
I am currently a provisionally licensed counselor in the State of Nebraska. I earned my Master’s degree in Counseling and Biblical Studies from Western Seminary (Portland, OR) in 2013, and my degree in Spiritual Formation and Ministry from Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL) in 2004. I have over 11 years of combined experience working in Christian ministry, Social Services and as a Counselor. I have also had my share of emotional trials and heartache, and believe God has specifically allowed me to go through painful seasons of life in order to support people experiencing similar heartaches. In my free time, I like to chase my three children, train for triathalons and start (and rarely finish) five books at a time.
...“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God...[Jesus said] I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (2 Corinthians 1:3,4 & John 10:10)
